Metropolitan Ilarion (Grigoriy Valerevich Alfeyev, born 1966), was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy by the University of Oxford and a Doctorate in Theology by the Institut de Théologie Orthodoxe Saint-Serge in Paris. He is one of the foremost orthodox theologians of our time. He has authored over six hundred publications, many of which have been translated into a variety of world languages.
